Villa del Leyva, Duitama, Soata, El Cocuy, Duitama, Charala, San Gil, Barichara
We drove up north to the El Cocuy Nataional Park to do some hiking. The drive up there was very nice, through forest, over windy roads. Unfortually it was raining up there at 4000m, so we only stayed one night in a nice charlett with fire place, explored the area up there next morning by car and drove then back to Barichara, south of Bucaramanga, claimed to be the prettiest village in Columbia. Well, can't confirm this. Villa de Leyva was much nicer for us. This drive took us through the mountain, gravel road and beautiful scenery, through a Taoist village with 2000 people. But also 3 hours over worst gravel/stone road in rain until we stopped for the night in Charala. A nice little mountain village, where we went for a pizza and enjoid the Star Wars Festival on TV.
It was sofar the best ride we did. And Thomas took the Defender very hart, and without any bigger issues afterwards. Wondering how mine would have handled that.
